How you can get started planning your kitchen right away...

Sample Kitchen Layout

Sample Floorplan Sketch

Note: Each square on the floorplan grid equals one square foot in your kitchen/bath.

Measure and Make a Sketch

You'll need a pencil, an eraser, a measuring tape, and the Personal Coutertop Planner found here .

1) Draw an outline of your kitchen/bath. Draw a line representing each wall of your kitchen/bath on the printed grid. Keep the drawing proportionate. If your kitchen/bath is square, make the outline square. If you have a galley style kitchen, just draw two parallel lines.

2) Mark the location of all sinks, tubs, showers and refrigerators.

3) Measure and record the measurements of all the surfaces on the floorplans grid.

Be sure to include the height of each backsplash
and the width and length of any countertops.
Do the same for an island.
